Captain Kidd

Hi I am Isaac. I like history so I wanted to blog about it.
Hope you enjoy my blog!!!!!

Here is my first post.

Captain Kidd was a Scottish sailor who was born in 1645 and died in 1701.
His real name was William Kidd.

Captain Kidd was a privateer during the golden age of piracy. That means he was a private sailor who is sent by the governor to fight pirates.

His ship was named the Adventure. He was sent to protect people from pirates but turned pirate himself.  He sunk the Adventurer and used a stolen ship, the Quedah Merchant. After awhile, he chose to return to New York and thought he could win the governor's heart with jewels and gold. He told the governor, Lord Bellomont, that the acts of piracy were done by his crew while he was locked up. Lord Bellomont wanted proof and he didn't believe his story so sent him to England to be tried as a pirate. He was found guilty and hanged in 1701.

People searched for his ship, the Quedah Merchant and its treasures for many years. In 2007 divers found what they believed was his ship off the coast of the Dominican Republic.

I liked learning about Captain Kidd because I like reading about pirates and battles and stuff.
Here is my copywork and pictures I drew after reading about it.
